The Adentan Circuit Court has remanded a private security guard, Evans Eshun, popularly known on social media as Ebo Noah, in police custody for two weeks and directed that he undergo a psychiatric assessment at a state health facility.
The order was made when Ebo Noah appeared before the court on Friday, January 2, 2026, facing charges of publication of false news with intent to cause fear and panic.
Prosecutors told the court that the 33-year-old, who works as a private security guard, is standing trial over several videos posted on Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube between August and December 2025 using the account name @Ebonoah.
In the videos, Eshun allegedly predicted a catastrophic flood on December 25, 2025, claiming he was constructing an ark to rescue people from the impending disaster.
The prosecution argued that the claims were false, unauthorised, and deliberately made to create public fear and alarm.
According to the Ghana Police Service, the complainant in the case, Eshun, was picked up on December 31, 2025, following an intelligence-led operation at Weija-Gbawe in the Greater Accra Region.
Investigators said the accused admitted, in a cautioned statement, to producing and circulating the videos.
He reportedly clarified that the boat he described as an “ark” belonged to a fisherman operating from a boat yard in Edina, in the Central Region, and not to him.
The prosecution further disclosed that Eshun acknowledged that his warnings of an imminent flood were untrue.
The court presided over by Her Honour Angela Attachie subsequently remanded him into custody and the case to January 15, 2026, pending the outcome of the psychiatric evaluation ordered by the court.
