Hope in Christ Outreach, a Christian non-governmental organisation, has donated assorted food items to more than 300 widows in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta Region, bringing relief and joy to beneficiaries during the Yuletide season. The donation formed part of the organisation’s annual outreach activities aimed at supporting vulnerable members of society.
The presentation, which drew widows from various communities within the municipality, marked the climax of Hope in Christ Outreach’s programmes for the year. The initiative sought to provide not only material support but also emotional and spiritual encouragement to widows, many of whom face economic and social challenges.
Speaking at the event, Evangelist Jeremiah Brempong, Public Relations Officer of Hope in Christ Outreach, said the organisation had consistently supported widows on a monthly basis and crowned the effort with an end-of-year get-together for the past five years. He noted that the programme had become a core part of the organisation’s mission to demonstrate Christian love through practical support.
Evangelist Brempong said the donations always put smiles on the faces of the widows and offered them a sense of belonging and hope. However, he acknowledged that due to limited resources, the organisation was currently unable to reach all widows in the municipality who required assistance.
He expressed optimism about the future, stating that it was the vision and hope of Hope in Christ Outreach to expand its operations. With adequate resources and support, he said the organisation aspired to extend monthly assistance to widows across the country.
The Hohoe Constituency Member of Parliament, Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, commended the organisation for its sustained commitment to the welfare of widows in the municipality. He stressed the importance of providing proper care and support for the less privileged in society, particularly widows who often face neglect and hardship.
Mr Tsekpo further disclosed plans for a partnership between Hope in Christ Outreach, the Municipal Assembly and his office to ensure continuous support for widows, especially in the area of access to healthcare. The beneficiaries, on their part, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the organisation and the Member of Parliament for the gesture, describing it as a timely intervention that brought joy and hope to them during the festive season.
