Former Entertainment Prefect of Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary (POJOSS), Fred Kofi Asante-Sarpong, has been officially called to the Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana today, Friday, October 10, 2025, marking the end of an extraordinary journey filled with struggle, faith, and relentless determination.
According to him, his life could have taken a very different turn if not for a decisive intervention by his father.
“At a critical point, my father redirected me from environments that could have destroyed my future. Those ‘unfortunate grounds’ became the foundation for something greater. It was divine redirection and divine timing,” he said in an exclusive interview with newsalertgh.com.
Reflecting on his path, Fred stated, “What a powerful testament to resilience, faith, and unwavering determination! My journey from the streets of Ghana and the UK to becoming Fred Kofi Asante-Sarpong, Esq., is truly inspiring. This is God’s handwriting on my life.”

But even after earning his LLB with Second Class Upper, he faced a major setback: he failed the Ghana School of Law entrance exam. Instead of giving up, he fought back.
“When I failed MAKOLA, I didn’t surrender. I put on my boxing gloves. That failure baptized me into purpose. I told myself, this battle is mine to win.”
He described the immense sacrifice behind the scenes. “People see the suit and the call to the Bar, but they didn’t see the nights I slept on benches and classroom floors. I studied across campuses, battled mosquitoes, and stayed up countless nights. Legal principles became the air I breathe. Success has a cost—and I paid it.”
Fred didn’t just stop at passing the entrance exam.

“Not only did I complete my LLB, I went on to pursue my LLM in 2024 and finished with top scores. Then I mastered the practical skills in Part 2. I didn’t just pass—I excelled. I killed two birds with one stone.”
He believes his journey was spiritually orchestrated, pointing to a unique moment of destiny.
“I received my entrance exam results on 10/10/2023. Exactly two years later, on 10/10/2025, I was called to the Bar. Who else but God could write such a story?”

Members of the Pope John Old Boys Association (POJOBA) are celebrating his resilience and remarkable achievements, evident in the hordes of congratulatory messages pouring in from his mates on the POJOBA 2003 WhatsApp platform.
“From controlling the microphone as Entertainment Prefect to commanding the courtroom as a lawyer—this is the true POJOBA spirit,” one of his mates reacted.

Fred says his story is not just personal—it is a message of hope.
“To every young person who thinks their dream is far beyond reach, look at me. Your past does not disqualify you. Setbacks are setups for comebacks. Talent may start the journey, but faith and purpose finish it.”
Now officially a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana, Fred says he is ready to serve, mentor and inspire the next generation.
“This is not just a title. It is a calling. I want my legal career to be as impactful as my journey. To God be the glory. From the streets, through the struggle, to the Supreme Court—this is my story. And I’m just getting started.”
