Barely a week after the Kusasi Chief of the Ashanti Region was fatally shot, another man has been gunned down by motorbike-riding assailants in Asawase, sparking renewed fear among residents.
The latest victim was reportedly shot by two men riding a motorbike, who opened fire before fleeing the scene at top speed.
According to citinewsroom, security forces have since cordoned off the area, with police and military personnel deployed as investigations intensify.
This shooting comes in the wake of the July 22 assassination of Abdul-Malik Azenbe, the Kusasi Chief of the Ashanti Region and Chief of the Kadi Divisional Area in the Upper East Region’s Binduri District.
Azenbe was killed at his residence near the Asawase F-line Community Centre by gunmen on a motorbike, one of whom was reportedly wielding an AK-47 rifle. He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
