Mr. Kwame Kumah’s career is marked by a consistent commitment to patient advocacy, professional development, and health systems strengthening.

A proud alumnus of the Ho Nurses’ Training College, Courage began his nursing journey between 2007 and 2010, earning a Diploma in Registered General Nursing. While in training, he made early waves as SRC President, spearheading efforts to end the controversial compulsory feeding policy in nursing schools, a bold move that garnered national attention and set the tone for his leadership trajectory.

He later earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with First Class Honours from Central University (2013–2015), before going on to specialise in Paediatric Nursing, graduating with Distinction in 2019. Despite receiving offers from prestigious institutions abroad, including the University of Leeds, the University of Glasgow, Swansea University, and two renowned universities in China

Courage made the deliberate decision to continue his specialisation in Ghana, demonstrating a deep-rooted commitment to local capacity building.

Internationally, Courage Kwame Kumah has made his mark as well. He has presented at major conferences, including the German Society of Tropical Paediatrics and Global Child Health (GTP) in Bonn, Germany. He also completed an internship in Switzerland and holds a certificate in Global Child Health and Tropical Paediatrics from GTP.

His leadership journey began with the Ghana Nurses and Midwives Trainees Association (GNMTA), where he served as National Secretary. In this role, Courage was instrumental in shaping the early experiences and development of student nurses and midwives across the country, laying a strong foundation for future nursing leadership.

He later assumed the role of Convener for the Junior Nurses and Midwives Association, where he successfully coordinated national activities and championed the welfare and professional development of young professionals entering the healthcare system.

His tenure at the district level was marked by effective grassroots mobilisation and strong advocacy for better working conditions for nurses and midwives.

Recognised for his capabilities and dedication, he was elected as Regional Secretary and is currently serving as the Regional Chairman of GRNMA, a role through which he also contributes to national decision-making as a Member of the National Council of the Association.

In addition to these roles, Courage chairs the General Nurses Group in Ghana, where he plays a key role in professional development initiatives and policy formulation aimed at strengthening nursing practice in the country.

His strategic insight and passion for results have also earned him a pivotal role as Secretary to the Policy, Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation (PPME) Committee of GRNMA. In this capacity, he helps steer the Association’s long-term planning and ensures that performance standards and key indicators are monitored and evaluated effectively.

As a certified Paediatric Nurse Specialist and a proud member of the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives, Mr. Kwame Kumah continues to champion healthcare equity, nurse empowerment, and sustainable community health interventions. He has led several health outreach initiatives to underserved and hard-to-reach areas across the country.

His appointment to the board of the Ho Teaching Hospital is not only a personal milestone but a beacon of hope and possibility for young healthcare professionals nationwide. Courage Kwame Kumah’s story is a testament to what passion, perseverance, and purpose can achieve.
