The Kpando Gadza M/A Basic School has received a fully renovated and stocked library, marking a significant milestone in the community’s efforts to promote literacy and quality education.
The project was spearheaded through a collaborative initiative between the Queen Mother of Kpando Gadza, Mama Kodzogasi II, and the Delali Project, with additional support from the Heritage Hands Foundation, Rainbow Trust Foundation, and the Accra Sankofa Leo Club.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Emmanuel Elikplim Akyea, Leader of the Delali Project, stated that the initiative was aimed at supporting underprivileged students with access to educational resources to improve academic performance.
“We believe that when children are given the right tools, they are more likely to stay in school, thrive, and reach their full potential,” he emphasised.
Queen Mother of Kpando Gadza Mama Kodzogasi II lauded the collective efforts that brought the library to life, noting its critical role in enhancing reading habits among children.
She encouraged parents to take an active interest in their children’s education, stressing that education is key to nurturing future leaders.
“This library is not just a building; it is a doorway to knowledge, opportunity, and hope”
Nana Akosua Agyapomaa Asare I, Executive Director of the Heritage Hands Foundation and Rainbow Trust Foundation, highlighted the organisations’ commitment to educational and community development.
She revealed that the foundations comprising queen mothers focus on social impact through education, youth development, and the empowerment of women.
“We prioritise providing access to books and libraries in deprived communities and equipping women with skills to promote self-reliance,” she said, adding that the library project aligns perfectly with their mission to support improved learning outcomes for students.
The Headmaster of the school, Mr. Ephraim Kwesi Tigoh, expressed profound gratitude to the benefactors, noting that the facility would significantly improve learners’ reading abilities. However, he also pointed out some pressing needs of the school, including a professional librarian, a Kindergarten block, a children’s playground, and access to safe drinking water.
The newly commissioned library is expected to become a cornerstone of academic growth and a vital learning hub for the youth of Kpando Gadza, fostering a culture of reading, learning, and hope for a brighter future.
