AngloGold Ashanti Ghana has once again demonstrated its commitment to nurturing the next generation of journalists through its support for the AfriMass Network’s Newsroom Business Initiative mentorship program. The company’s backing of the initiative, which brought together young journalists, industry professionals, and media educators, underscores its dedication to promoting responsible journalism and media development.
Held at the Bluecrest University College in Accra, the mentorship program provided a platform for aspiring journalists to learn from seasoned professionals and gain critical skills in investigative journalism, digital media literacy, and ethical reporting. The event was marked by insightful discussions on the importance of press freedom, the role of media in national development, and the challenges faced by young reporters in a rapidly changing environment.
AfriMass Network Founder, Raymond Smith, emphasised the significance of investing in young talent to sustain vibrant democracies.

Building on the success of the mentorship program, the AfriMass Network is set to launch its Newsroom Business Initiative (NBI) Fellowship for Young Journalists, scheduled to run from July 15 to August 1, 2025. The fellowship aims to provide young journalists with hands-on experience and mentorship, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the industry. With AngloGold Ashanti Ghana’s continued support, the AfriMass Network (Newsroom Business Initiative) sustainable newsroom is poised to make a lasting impact on the media landscape in Ghana, empowering the next generation of journalists to drive positive change and promote informed citizenship.
