Nana Akosua Agyapomaa Asare I, Director of the Heritage Hands Foundation and the Rainbow Trust Foundation, has reaffirmed the commitment of the two foundations to improving education, promoting literacy, and empowering women and children in underserved communities across Ghana.
Speaking at a community event to support a newly commissioned school library at Kpando Gadza, Nana Asare highlighted the unique roles the two foundations play in driving sustainable change through education and empowerment.
She stated that the Heritage Hands Foundation, which comprises a group of Queen Mothers, focuses primarily on education and child development. The foundation supports schools by providing access to books and well-equipped libraries to help children cultivate a love for reading and improve their academic outcomes.
“We believe that by creating access to quality learning resources, especially in deprived communities, we can uplift generations through education.”
The Rainbow Trust Foundation is dedicated to supporting both children and women in marginalized communities. It provides employable skills training to promote self-reliance and economic independence.
According to Nana Asare, the foundation offers practical training programs that enable women to learn trades and earn a living, ultimately contributing to the development of their local economies.
“We know that women face many challenges, so by equipping them with skills, they can become independent and help develop their communities as well,” she said. “Empowered women are the backbone of strong families and thriving communities.”
Nana Asare also emphasized the critical role of parents in shaping the future of their children, particularly in how they perceive education.
She encouraged parents to foster a culture of learning at home and to treat education as a joyful experience rather than a punishment.
“Sometimes you see a parent telling a child, ‘Go and study’ as a form of punishment. That should not t be the case,” she noted. “Children need to see learning as a joy, not a burden. Parents should read to their children and serve as role models in cultivating reading habits.”
The support given to the school library project, she said, reflects the shared mission of both foundations to uplift communities by enhancing educational access and empowering women through skills acquisition.
With ongoing initiatives across multiple regions, the Heritage Hands and Rainbow Trust Foundations continue to play a transformative role in reshaping the future for many children and women in Ghana’s most underserved communities.
