Krachi East Communities Unite to Address Development Needs with MCE

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Krachi East Municipality, Safo Nketia, has embarked on a community engagement tour to bring governance closer to the people. The tour, which covered several communities including Anyabour No. 2, Kwame Akura, Yariga No. 2, Chamb Akura, and Kparekpare, aimed to address pressing local concerns and prioritise development needs.

Key Concerns Raised by Communities:
– Electricity Access: Lack of electricity connections, delayed light extension projects, and non-functioning streetlights were major concerns. The MCE assured communities that the Assembly would engage the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to assess and address these issues.
– Water Access: Inadequate water supply due to broken boreholes and faulty mechanised water systems was a significant challenge. The MCE promised to repair broken systems and install additional boreholes.
– Education: Communities highlighted the need for new Junior High School buildings, adequate classrooms, and improved school infrastructure. The MCE assured them that school infrastructure development remains a priority.
– Road Safety: Poor roads and lack of speed ramps were cited as major concerns, with communities calling for urgent action to prevent accidents.
– Sanitation and Waste Management: Communities requested Zoomlion waste containers to improve sanitation and address health risks.
– Security: Youth requested dedicated recruitment slots into security services, while communities highlighted the Fulani herdsmen menace and police disturbances on roads.
– Youth Employment and Women Empowerment: Unemployment among youth and limited access to loans and financial support for women were significant concerns. The MCE introduced the Adwumawura Program and National Apprenticeship Program to support youth and women.
– Healthcare and Market Infrastructure: Communities expressed concern over limited healthcare capacity and inadequate market infrastructure, with the MCE assuring gradual intervention.
