The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations (MoCDTI) has commenced a two-day working session with the Parliamentary Select Committee on Information and Communication to deliberate on its 2025 programme of activities, including plans from its affiliated agencies.

The engagement, aimed at deepening transparency and collaboration, brought together key stakeholders from the Ministry and Members of Parliament to align on legislative and developmental priorities in the digital space.

In his address, the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to open dialogue with Parliament. He revealed that fifteen (15) new legislative frameworks are in the pipeline, focusing on key sectors such as the digital economy, cybersecurity, and data protection. According to him, these proposed laws will be submitted to Parliament in phases for consideration and approval.

Among major reforms announced is the transformation of the National Information Technology Agency (NITA) into a purely regulatory institution. Its current operational and service-provision functions, along with all government IT assets, will be reassigned to a new entity.

Touching on the One Million Coders Initiative, the Ningo-Prampram MP noted that Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) will be leveraged to accelerate training and ensure sustainable job creation.
