The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced planned and emergency maintenance works affecting several areas across the Ashanti, Central, and Greater Accra regions today, Thursday, May 8, 2025.
According to a public notice from ECG, the outages are part of efforts to improve service reliability and upgrade power distribution systems. The works are expected to cause intermittent supply between 9 am and varying end times depending on the locality.
Greater Accra Region
Planned maintenance in the capital city will affect Chain Homes Estate and Teshie New England, along with surrounding areas, between 9 am and 5 pm.
Ashanti Region
Both planned and emergency maintenance works will take place across the region.
An emergency maintenance exercise from 9 am to 3 pm will affect Tetrem, Boamang, and the surrounding areas.
Simultaneously, a scheduled maintenance operation from 9 am to 5 pm will impact a wide range of communities, including:
-
Kenyase, Antoa, Abirem, Duase, Bosore, Garden City, Akate Farms, CRI, BRRI, Adesina, Brofoyedru, and Nwamase
-
Tikrom, Adako Jachie, Akyease, Paakoso, Aprade, Agyiriwaa, Kyerekrom, Akokoamon, Baworo, and Raktia Farms
ECG says the works are essential to ensuring long-term stability and improved service in these areas.
Central Region
In the Central Region, power will be interrupted between 9 am and 4 pm in Elmina Shell, African Pot, CP, Iture, Abakam, Duakro, and surrounding areas.
ECG has apologised for the inconvenience and assured the public that power will be restored promptly once works are completed.
