The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare-Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, has revealed that the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration offered him a government-linked job in a bid to silence his vocal criticism.
Speaking on Accra-based Channel One TV on Sunday, May 4, 2025, A-Plus alleged that he was given a role related to oil lifting at the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST), but the appointment was short-lived once he continued speaking out.
“The problem with the NPP is that they gave me a job, expecting that now that you are eating, don’t talk. But they didn’t tell me that when they were giving me the job. I like talking more than eating,” he said.
According to him, his continued outspokenness quickly became an issue for party officials.
“One or two months into the business, they said I was talking too much. So they took the job away,” he disclosed, adding that he only received one month’s salary before being dismissed.
Despite losing the position, A-Plus said he remained unshaken in his resolve to speak truth to power.
“They expected that once I had the position, I would keep quiet. But I won’t stop speaking out just because I have a job,” he stated.
