Water supply disruptions have hit several communities in the Volta Region, as ongoing power issues hamper operations at key Ghana Water Limited (GWL) treatment plants, the utility company announced in a press release.
The press release signed by Ing. Ransford Nii Djan Amoo, Regional Production Manager for Ghana Water Company for the Volta Region, revealed that the interruptions were caused by voltage and phase supply issues at key water treatment facilities in Kpando, Agordome, and Kpeve.
At the Kpando Water Treatment Plant, production was temporarily halted at approximately 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, 3rd May 2025, following a phase loss.
Ing Nii Djan Amoo stated that with the prompt intervention of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in the Kpando District, the issue was quickly resolved, and normal operations resumed.
The statement further stated that the Agordome plant experienced low voltage problems at around 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 2nd 2025, which affected its ability to produce water. ECG officials from the Sogakope District responded swiftly, and the plant is now fully operational.
He further stated that the Kpeve Water Treatment Plant remains affected by unbalanced phase voltages since 4:00 p.m. on 2nd May 2025. ECG teams are actively working to restore power stability to the plant to ensure water production can resume as soon as possible.
The company has extended its apologies to affected communities for the inconvenience and assured the public that all necessary steps are being taken to restore full service.
The utility provider pledged to provide regular updates and thanked residents for their patience and understanding during the disruption.
