President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the Central Region receives its fair share of national development, pledging to complete key infrastructure projects in the area.
Addressing a grand durbar of Chiefs and residents in Cape Coast as part of his “Thank You Tour,” President Mahama assured that his government would complete major road projects, including the dualization of the Kasoa-Winneba road.
He also promised the completion and operationalization of the Anomabo Fisheries College by the end of 2025 and the full activation of the Komenda Sugar Factory.
Speaking at the Jubilee Park in Cape Coast, Mahama expressed deep appreciation to the Chiefs and people of the Central Region for their trust in him and Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang. He emphasized that their support was instrumental in securing victory.
“I also want to express my profound gratitude to you for making history by giving us your daughter as the first female Vice President of the Republic of Ghana,” he said.
Quoting the Vice President, he noted, “It is not enough to be the first to go through the door, but what matters most is to hold the door open for others to follow. And I am confident she will pave the way for many more women to rise to leadership.”
Reflecting on his campaign engagements, Mahama said he and his team had interacted with people from all walks of life—youth, farmers, artisans, elders, and fishermen—listening to their concerns and sharing in their aspirations.
“Their support in the elections affirmed their belief in a Ghana that is united, progressive, and forward-moving,” he stated.
Reiterating his commitment to the region, he assured that his government would invest in education, infrastructure, healthcare, and economic empowerment to improve lives.
“As we embark on this journey together, I want to emphasize that I am a President for all Ghanaians. I am committed to fostering unity and inclusivity, ensuring that no region, community, or individual is left behind,” Mahama declared.
He urged all Ghanaians to set aside past divisions and work together, emphasizing that the country’s strength lies in its diversity.
“As we move into this new chapter, our vision for Ghana remains clear: we are committed to building a prosperous, peaceful, and sustainable nation,” he concluded.
The nationwide tour, which began on January 24 in Ho, the Volta Regional capital, is aimed at expressing gratitude to Ghanaians for their overwhelming support in the 2024 elections. On February 5, he addressed a similar durbar in Sekondi for the Western Region.
