The Chair of The Rotary Foundation (TRF) Board of Trustees and Past Rotary International President (PRIP), Mark Maloney, is set to visit Ghana from Monday, January 20, 2024, to Wednesday, January 22, 2025, as part of his Africa tour. Accompanied by his spouse, Gay, the visit forms part of Rotary’s commitment to community development and humanitarian service in the country.
Upon arrival at Kotoka International Airport, Mark Maloney will be welcomed by Rotary leaders and dignitaries before proceeding to Labadi Beach Hotel for a press conference and official engagements.
During his visit, Mr Maloney will tour impactful Rotary-sponsored projects, including the Cleft Lip and Palate initiative at Ridge Hospital, Accra. He is also scheduled to meet with the United States Ambassador and Polio Plus partners to strengthen collaboration on eradicating polio.
A town hall meeting will be held with Rotarians, community leaders, and other stakeholders to discuss Rotary’s achievements and future projects in Ghana.
Mr Maloney is expected to also meet with senior government officials to explore opportunities for partnerships and collaborative efforts. These engagements will focus on enhancing Rotary’s impact on critical areas such as health, education, and community development.
Rotary Foundation Trustee Ijeoma Pearl Okoro expressed optimism about the visit, stating, “This visit is creating positive vibes across communities in Nigeria and Ghana, showcasing how The Rotary Foundation is transforming lives. I am confident that Rotarians and friends of Rotary will find renewed passion and fulfilment in serving others.”
The District Governor of Rotary District 9104, Florence Maame Hagan, who oversees over 70 Rotary clubs and 55 Rotaract clubs, expressed optimism about the positive impact of such a visit, highlighting the potential partnerships and funding it could drive to support future projects and humanitarian activities of Rotary in Ghana.
Ghana’s Rotary team, led by Endowments and Major Gifts Advisor Yvonne Kumoji Darko, has expressed readiness to ensure a successful visit.
Rotarians, partners, and guests are invited to partake in the outlined activities, while media representatives are encouraged to cover key events. Updates, interviews, and multimedia content will be shared via Rotary’s official platforms.
