An Accra High Court is set to deliver its ruling today, Saturday, January 4, 2025, on four applications seeking to compel the Electoral Commission (EC) to collate and declare results in four constituencies.
The ruling follows submissions from all parties involved before the court, presided over by Justice Forson Baah Agyepong.
Four New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidates – Nana Akua Afriyie (Ablekuma North), Patrick Yaw Boamah (Okaikwei Central), Charles Forson (Tema Central), and Adjei Mensah Korsah (Techiman South) – have filed applications for mandamus requesting the High Court to order the EC to complete the collation and declaration of results in their respective constituencies.
The applications list the EC as the respondent. At the same time, National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidates Ebi Bright (Tema Central), Awurabena Aubynn (Ablekuma North), Baba Sadiq (Okaikwei North), and Christopher Beyere (Techiman South) have been named as interested parties.
The NDC candidates oppose the applications, urging the court to dismiss them on grounds of jurisdiction. They argue that declarations have already been made, and their candidates have been officially declared winners.
