Ghana’s Parliament resumes today, January 2, 2025, following its adjournment last year. A key item on the agenda is the presentation of the 2025 Mini-Budget, which has faced multiple postponements.
The Mini-Budget, a constitutional requirement outlining fiscal plans for the upcoming year, is expected to address critical issues such as revenue mobilization, expenditure priorities, and strategies for fiscal consolidation ahead of the next administration. The delay in presenting the budget has raised concerns about a potential government shutdown.
In December, Speaker Alban Bagbin adjourned Parliament, citing the Finance Minister’s failure to meet the presentation deadline.
Multiple sources have confirmed to newsalertgh.com that Finance Minister Dr Mohammed Amin Adam is expected to present the expenditure in advance of appropriation when the House reconvenes today.
