President-elect John Dramani Mahama has pledged to address Ghana’s economic challenges with a focus on stimulating growth, stabilizing the cedi, and reducing inflation upon assuming office.
Speaking on Thursday, December 12, 2024, during a courtesy visit by the Algerian Ambassador to Ghana, Mourad Louhaidia, at his residence, Mr Mahama stressed the urgent need for decisive action to restore economic stability.
“We are looking to focus on bringing Ghana back up in terms of economic growth, stabilising the currency, and bringing down inflation.”
“And this is the time Ghana needs to work even closer with its partners, including China,” the President-elect explained.
He also expressed optimism that his administration’s policies and strengthened global cooperation would bring relief to citizens grappling with Ghana’s economic difficulties.
“So as early as possible, once we get the transition out of the way, it is our hope that we will be able to constitute a delegation to begin engaging with China on the issues of our technical cooperation,” Mr. added.
Ambassador Louhaidia congratulated Mr Mahama on his electoral victory and assured him of Algeria’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations for mutual benefit.
