Former Asante Kotoko head coach and player, Michael Osei, has died at the age of 53.
Osei reportedly passed away in London after being rushed to the hospital with chest pains. His sudden demise has left the Ghanaian football community and those close to him in shock.
As a player, Osei was a key figure for the Porcupine Warriors before transitioning into coaching, where he left an indelible mark. He managed Bibiani Gold Stars, leading the team to an impressive fifth-place finish in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season.
Osei also contributed to the national scene, serving as an assistant coach for Ghana’s U23 team, the Black Meteors.
Beyond his coaching career, Osei was a member of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG), where he was respected for his commitment to advancing the game.
