A leader of the Afrafranto Caravan Tour in the Upper East, Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Sidique has called for a national shift away from politics focused on party loyalty, attributing Ghana’s ongoing challenges to a lack of quality leadership. Speaking at the Bawku Naba’s Palace during the Upper East Caravan Tour, Alhaji Sidique said Ghana’s abundant natural resources, including timber, gold, manganese, oil, and bauxite, which he noted have yet to translate into tangible progress for most Ghanaians.
Alhaji Sidique expressed his concerns that “mediocrity has long held the front seat, while true merit is relegated to the back,” leading to ineffective governance and missed opportunities for national advancement. He argued that Ghana’s two main parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP), have created a “cycle of compromise, where excellence is sacrificed at the altar of party allegiance.” This approach, he stressed, has left essential sectors like health, education, and infrastructure lagging, unable to meet basic standards. “It’s time we recognize that our fixation on party labels is costing us our future,” he declared.
Looking toward the 2024 general elections, Alhaji Sidique presented Alan Kyerematen as a visionary candidate committed to competent, transformative leadership.
“A vote for Alan is a vote for Ghana’s true potential,” he told the audience.
Joined by Dr Alhasan Samari, Chairman of the National Advisory Committee, and Mr Rayan Nazir, Upper East Regional Anchor, Alhaji Sidique and his team met with chiefs, elders, and community members in Bawku to share their vision for change under Kyerematen’s leadership. They described him as a leader focused on harnessing Ghana’s resources for the benefit of all citizens, rather than a select few.
“This is a time for real change, for leadership that finally matches the potential of our resources and the promise of our people,” he said.
“The time has come to demand a new kind of leadership—one that delivers.” He encouraged voters to reject party-first politics, warning that without change, “we risk losing the future we’ve always dreamed of.”
