The Incumbent Member of Parliament for Offinso North and Deputy Minister for Local Government Decentralization and Rural Development, Augustine Collins Ntim, has lost out on his bid to get another nod to represent the NPP in the December general elections. Mr Ntim faced a formidable challenge from the Director General of CTVET, Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah. This keenly contested election, part of the ruling NPP’s primaries across the country, witnessed a significant power shift.
The certified results from the intense electoral exercise revealed Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah’s resounding victory, securing 61.97% of the total valid votes cast. He garnered 378 votes, effectively unseating MP Augustine Collins Ntim, who managed to secure only 37.87% with 231 votes. Presidential staffer Mr Rockson Adu Boahen, on the other hand, obtained a mere 0.16%, with just 1 vote.
Having served as a Member of Parliament for four consecutive terms, totalling 16 years, Augustine Collins Ntim’s political reign is set to conclude on January 7, 2025, following his defeat to Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah in this historic parliamentary primary.
