Chris Hughton sacked as Ghana coach after abysmal AFCON showing

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially announced the immediate sack of Chris Hughton from his role as the head coach of the senior National team, the Black Stars. The decision, made by the GFA Executive Council, comes in tandem with the dissolution of the entire technical team, signalling a significant shake-up in the leadership of one of Africa’s football powerhouses.

The announcement was made in an official statement released by the Ghana Football Association, expressing gratitude to Chris Hughton for his services while outlining the reasons behind the decision to relieve him of his duties. The GFA emphasized its commitment to taking the Black Stars in a new direction and achieving greater success on the international stage.

The decision to dissolve the entire technical team further underscores the GFA’s commitment to a comprehensive overhaul of the Black Stars’ coaching setup. The move is seen as a strategic effort to usher in a new era of footballing excellence, with the Executive Council actively working on a roadmap for the future direction of the national team.

While the specifics of the decision remain undisclosed, it is evident that the GFA is keen on fostering a fresh approach to rejuvenate the team’s performance and competitiveness. Fans and football enthusiasts alike are now left eagerly anticipating the unveiling of the roadmap, which is expected to provide insights into the criteria for selecting a new coaching staff and the strategic vision for the Black Stars.

Chris Hughton guided the Senior National team to one of its abysmal showings in the history of the county.
