The Minority caucus in Parliament has issued a 7-day ultimatum to the Bank of Ghana (BoG) to furnish them with details about the cost of their proposed Head Office complex.
The request which is based on section 18 of the Right To Information Act (ACT 989), was dated Thursday, August 17, 2023.
Mahama Ayariga, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bawku Central signed the letter on behalf of Kwame Governs Agbodza, the Minority Chief Whip.
“My name is Mahama Ayariga Esq. and I am the representative of Bawku Central constituency in Parliament on the ticket of the NDC. Kindly provide information within 7 working days from the date of this letter. Your expeditious response to these enquiries is anticipated in accordance with the law,” the letter stated.
Among their inquiries, the minority is specifically seeking details about the land acquisition process for the construction of the new headquarters. They are also requesting the identities of consultants and project managers involved in the project.
Furthermore, the minority is seeking transparency regarding the financial arrangement pertaining to the construction of the new headquarters. Specifically, they are interested in knowing the total cost, scope of work, bill of quantities, as well as the start and completion dates of the project.
Ayariga further inquired:
1. The processes involved in the procurement of the construction of the new headquarters building of the Bank of Ghana currently under construction at Ridge in Accra and the contractors involved in the construction. Please provide the names of consultants and project managers.
- The financing arrangement for the construction of the new headquarters building of the Bank of Ghana at Ridge in Accra and currently under construction.
- The cost, scope of works, bill of quantities and contract start and completion dates of the new headquarters building of the Bank of Ghana currently under construction at Ridge in Accra.
- How the land on which the new headquarters building of the Bank of Ghana currently under construction at Ridge in Accra was procured and at what price or under what arrangement and from who?
