Alan Kyerematen, a flagbearer hopeful of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed his belief that the party has a better chance of winning the 2024 elections if he is elected as the presidential candidate. As part of his campaign tour, Mr Kyerematen visited the Volta Region and asserted that the NPP can secure more votes in the region if he leads the party.
During his tour, he highlighted his leadership qualities and marketability as a candidate, stating that he is the most likely among the contestants to become Ghana’s next president if allowed to be the flagbearer. Mr Kyerematen emphasized that out of the ten contestants, he is the only one who can effectively stand against the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming elections.
“I want you to look at all of us very clearly. Which of us is likely to become Ghana’s next president if he gets the nod to be flagbearer? It is only one person among the contestants. This is what the 69 people are telling you, who you can market to the people of Ghana and that is Alan Kyerematen. Out of the 10 contestants, I am the only one who can stand toe to toe with the NDC,” he noted.
Moreover, he pledged to take up the mantle of the late President Jerry John Rawlings as a godfather to the people of the Volta Region if they support him to win the presidency.
Speaking to delegates from various constituencies in Aflao, Ketu South, Dzodze, and Sogakope, Mr Kyerematen urged them to rally behind him in the November NPP primaries and in the 2024 elections to become the President of the nation. He expressed his commitment to continuing the positive role the late President played in the development of the region.
