The chief of Anomabo Taido in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region (CR), Nana Sam II, has called on the government to extend the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) program to his community.
According to him, the living condition of some of his community members, especially the aged, was very pathetic hence the appeal.
Nana Sam II appealed in an interview with Kojo Ata Kakrah Abrowah at the sidelines of Adwowa Gyaaba Foundation’s (AGF) 2023 second quarter edition of its quarterly benevolent program for the aged dubbed ‘Time With The Aged’ at Taido.
He explained, most of the aged did not have well-to-do relatives to look after them so it would be a blessing and a relief to them if government extends the program to the community.
“This is a farming community and most of our aged can not go to farm anymore so just imagine. Some of them at times go to bed with an empty stomach so I am using this medium to appeal to the government to factor my community,” Nana Sam II lamented.

The Adwowa Gyaaba Foundation is a Non-governmental humanitarian foundation founded by a US-based Ghanaian, Francis Kofi Ogoe, in honour of his late mother, Mame Adwowa Gyaaba.
It aims to provide foodstuffs, financial, health and educational assistance to the aged and needy students in some communities in the Ekumfi and Mfantseman districts of the region every quarter.
The foundation, since its inception in 2021 has so far visited about 10 communities.
At Anomabo Taido, about 50 aged and persons living with disability benefited from the foundation’s 2023 second quarter offer.
Each beneficiary was given GH¢100.00 cash.
