The Volta North Regional Police Command has arrested a 31-year-old man, Saviour Dzadze, for allegedly threatening a man with death at gunpoint and unlawfully possessing firearms and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
Saviour Dzadze, described by the Police as a suspected criminal, was arrested on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, after he was identified by police at the Kpando Circuit Court premises.
According to the Volta North Regional Police Command, the arrest followed a complaint lodged by one Dzodzi Kofi Kpakamipke on October 8, 2026, alleging that the suspect had threatened him with death at gunpoint.
A subsequent search conducted at the suspect’s residence allegedly led to the discovery of an AK-47 assault rifle, a pump-action shotgun, a locally manufactured single-barrel gun, 10 AAA Lion cartridges and quantities of substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
Police investigations further established that Dzadze allegedly acquired the AK-47 assault rifle through an exchange involving cultivated suspected Indian hemp with an unidentified man from Togo.
The Police said the suspect also received the pump-action shotgun from his brother, Foster Dzadze, in Accra, while the locally manufactured single-barrel gun was allegedly inherited from his late father, Matheerous Dzadze.
Dzadze is currently in police custody assisting with investigations and is expected to appear before the court on Friday, October 16, 2026. The Police said efforts were also underway to arrest his alleged accomplices to assist investigations.
The Volta North Regional Police Command reiterated its commitment to combating crime and urged the public to support the Police with relevant information to help maintain peace and security in the region.
