Chaotic scenes are unfolding on the floor of Parliament as the Minority attempts to obstruct government business.
The disruption occurred when Minority MPs insisted that the House be adjourned after Speaker Alban Bagbin deferred the ruling on the Kpandai seat vacancy.
Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga, addressing the disorder, said he was not surprised by the Minority’s actions, insisting that the governing side would not be rattled by what he described as persistent taunts and deliberate attempts to derail parliamentary work. According to him, the disruption is part of a sustained strategy by the Minority to force a resolution on the controversial Kpandai Parliamentary seat.
Ayariga accused the opposition MPs of creating incessant noise, drowning proceedings and at one point even blocking the Speaker from delivering a ruling, as conduct he said was intended to stall government business.
