It was less expensive shooting ‘One Night Guests’ in Nigeria – Peter Sedufia

Ghanaian film-maker, Peter Sedufia has disclosed that it cost him less when he shot and produced his yet-to-be-released movie, ‘One Night Guests’, in Nigeria.

Citing as the reason he decided to move the production of his movie to Nigeria, Peter told Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z that his decision was purely on a business basis.

“Going to Nigeria is purely a business decision because finding investors in Ghana was quite a hectic one. People know your numbers, they know what you can do but the scepticism is still there. But you meet a Nigerian business person and they are like ‘Oh we like it, we’re gonna give you money.’ And they say that if they give you the money you need to do it where the numbers are.

Of course, it is a passion project but it is not a charity job. It is a business decision we took. So we decided to go to Nigeria. After all, it was just one location thing and so there is no harm in [doing it],” he told Kwame Dadzie.

Touching on the cost of production in Nigeria, Peter highlighted the gaping gap between the costs of hiring equipment in Ghana and Nigeria.

“It was less expensive making the film there, actually. I got some of the equipment I used in Nigeria for about $60-$65 a day, for the camera, whereas if it was Ghana someone would be charging me about $500-$700 a day,” he noted.
