TV3 journalist Komla Klutse has demonstrated his unwavering resolve and resilience in the face of intimidation, following a disturbing WhatsApp message allegedly sent by Samuel Bryan Buabeng, a presidential staffer. The message, which reportedly contained derogatory remarks and insults towards Media General’s Parliamentary Affairs Correspondent and his late father, has sparked outrage and condemnation.
In a Facebook post addressing the incident, Komla Klutse asserted his resilience and refusal to be cowed by threats. He rebuked Bryan Buabeng’s alleged actions as cowardly and emphasized that insults towards his late father only revealed the sender’s weakness.

“This is the WhatsApp message the coward sent to my phone and shamelessly deleted it. I thought he had balls. I shared your 2014 post and the same principles stand. You have never been my friend so, could not have seen my post. Your informants shared it with you and all you could do was to cowardly send a WhatsApp message and delete it as such. Ask the many informants about me, I am not a coward as you are. I leave my traces, Follow it and meet me physically,” Komla fumed.
The journalist expressed disappointment at Buabeng’s behaviour, particularly considering their interactions in the past. Klutse recounted instances where their paths crossed, noting Buabeng’s inability to confront him directly. Despite the intimidation tactics employed, Klutse remains steadfast, declaring that threats hold no power over him.
“The many times our paths crossed and couldn’t even look me straight in the eye, I thought you were a man. Threats don’t kill me. Many cowards die severally on their own sword before their death.”

Addressing Edudzi Kudzo Tameklo, presumably a mutual acquaintance, Klutse urged Tameklo to relay a message to Buabeng, emphasizing that years of animosity towards him have only strengthened his resolve.
The incident has sparked conversations about the importance of respect and professionalism in public discourse, particularly among individuals in positions of authority. Many have voiced support for Komla Klutse, commending his courage and dignified response to the situation.
Concerns have also been raised about the potential impact of such behaviour on press freedom and the safety of journalists in Ghana.
