Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential aspirant, Goosie Tanoh, has denied social media reports that he has picked up nomination forms to contest the party’s national chairmanship.
According to his Personal Assistant, Joe Onyame, Mr Tanoh has neither taken custody of any nomination form nor expressed interest in contesting the NDC’s national chairmanship.
He said Mr Tanoh had also not authorised or mandated any individual or group to pick nomination forms on his behalf.
In a statement issued in response to the reports, Mr Onyame urged those behind what he described as a misleading narrative to desist from spreading false information about Mr Tanoh’s political ambitions.
“It must be stated clearly that Goosie has neither taken custody of any nomination form, expressed an interest in the national chairmanship contest, nor mandated any individual or group to do so on his behalf,” the statement said.
Mr Onyame said Mr Tanoh remained focused on supporting the vision of President John Dramani Mahama and contributing to the delivery of the government’s mandate through his work at the 24 Hour Economy Secretariat.
He stressed that, for now, Mr Tanoh’s attention remained firmly on his responsibilities at the Secretariat and the implementation of the President’s vision.
The clarification comes amid growing discussions within the NDC over potential contenders for various national executive positions as preparations towards the party’s internal elections gather momentum.
