The Ghana Meteorological Agency has issued an impact-based weather warning, cautioning residents across several regions to prepare for thunderstorms, heavy rain and possible flash floods.
According to the agency, thunderstorms and rainfall currently affecting the eastern parts of southern Ghana are expected to spread to more areas. Intermittent rain is also forecast over coastal communities from the evening of Thursday into Friday morning.
The warning, which is valid from 1800 UTC on Friday, June 19, 2026, covers the Greater Accra, Eastern, Volta, Central, and Ashanti regions, as well as Western North, Western, Ahafo, Bono, and Bono East regions.

The Meteorological Agency warned that strong to moderate winds may accompany the thunderstorms, increasing the risk of damage and flooding in vulnerable communities.
Residents in flood-prone areas have been advised to remain alert and take precautionary measures, while motorists and pedestrians are cautioned against moving through flood waters.
