The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, has called on Ghanaians to enter 2026 with renewed hope, unity and a shared sense of purpose, describing the government’s Reset Agenda as a fresh start for the country.
In a New Year message issued on January 1, 2026, the Minister extended his warmest greetings to traditional authorities, religious leaders, stakeholders in the sector and the general public, emphasising the importance of faith, culture and community in national development.
“As we usher in this new year, we remain mindful of the spiritual significance of the season we have just traversed which is Christmas, marking the birth of Jesus Christ which stands as humanity’s most profound symbol of hope and divine restoration. While we celebrated this milestone as a nation, its true value lies in the grace we carry forward, a grace that inspires us to approach 2026 with a sense of rebirth and renewed purpose.”
“For us in government, the message of the Nativity is a powerful catalyst for our “Reset Agenda.” Just as the birth of Christ signaled a new era for the world, our Reset is a commitment to a fresh start for Ghana, one rooted in accountability, fiscal discipline, recognition of the role of our religious leaders, traditional authorities and all stakeholders in social development and the empowerment of our local communities.”
The Minister assured that his Ministry remains committed to ensuring that the national renewal agenda is felt across all districts and traditional areas.
“The Ministry remains dedicated to ensuring that this national renewal is felt in every district and traditional area. We believe that by aligning our governance goals with the enduring values of peace and humility inherited from the season, we can achieve a more equitable and prosperous society.”
Calling for optimism in the new year, Ahmed Ibrahim urged Ghanaians to move forward with confidence and collective responsibility.
“Let us enter 2026 with the conviction that our best days are ahead. May the blessings of the season sustain our efforts as we work collectively to reset our nation for the benefit of every Ghanaian.”
