All eyes will be on Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary (POJOSS) today, Friday, October 31, 2025, as they lock horns with Swedru Secondary School (SWESCO) and Mpraeso SHS in the fifth quarterfinal contest of the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).
Pope John SHS enters this crucial contest with high confidence after delivering a masterclass performance in the one-eighth stage, where they overpowered Ghana SHS, Tamale, and Awudome SHS to secure their quarterfinal berth.
In that contest, POJOSS took early control, leading the first round with 20 points, while Ghana SHS and Awudome followed with 16 and 14 points, respectively. They then dominated the Trustur AI Speed Race, stretching their lead to 40 points.
Though the “Prudential Life Insurance Star Problem of the Day” slowed all teams down, Pope John SHS regained momentum in the JuPay Money Transfer True/False round and sealed their victory in the GOIL Riddle Bonanza, finishing with an emphatic 58 points. Ghana SHS and Awudome ended with 25 and 23 points, respectively.
That dazzling display reaffirmed Pope John SHS & Minor Seminary’s reputation as a formidable force in the competition. Having reached the quarterfinal stage last year, the Koforidua-based school is determined to go a step further this time, with their sights set on a semifinal qualification.

The 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz, produced by Primetime Limited, is sponsored by the Ghana Education Service (GES) in partnership with GOIL PLC, and supported by MTN MoMo, Pepsodent, Prudential Life Insurance, JuPay Money Transfer, Trustur AI, and other partners.
