The Volta Regional Branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA-Volta) will today, Thursday, September 4, 2025, launch the second phase of its Press Centre Project in Ho.
The event, scheduled at the GJA Volta Press Centre, will be attended by the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, alongside the Regional GJA Chairman, Dr. Harrison K. Belley. Other dignitaries, stakeholders, and media professionals are also expected to grace the occasion.
The launch will also serve as the beginning of a fundraising drive aimed at completing the project ahead of the 2026 World Press Freedom Day celebration. Hon. Gunu, a proud member of the Association, has pledged to lead the campaign to ensure the timely completion of the centre.
Phase II of the project, designed by the Ho Zonal Office of the Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL), was commissioned during the tenure of former Regional Chairman, Emmanuel Agbaxode. It features an upper floor with a 120-seater conference room, two executive offices, a boardroom, and a reception area. Additionally, a six-room ensuite guest accommodation block will be constructed to boost the Association’s internally generated funds (IGF).
The Press Centre project was first initiated in 2019 under the leadership of Anthony Bells Kafui Kanyi. The first phase delivered the ground floor, which houses an office, a restaurant with a mini bar, and a meeting area.
When fully completed, the facility will serve as a modern hub for media engagement, training, and collaboration, while also contributing to the financial sustainability of the GJA in the Volta Region.
The leadership of GJA-Volta is appealing to individuals, institutions, and development partners to support the initiative to make the vision a reality.
