PHOTOS: Sam George Storms Akwatia, Leads Church Campaign for NDC’s Bernard Baidoo

Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has stormed Akwatia to rally support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, Lawyer Bernard Baidoo, ahead of Tuesday’s by-election.

The by-election was occasioned by the sudden death of the sitting MP, Ernest Kumi, leaving the seat vacant. With the stakes high in one of the Eastern Region’s keenly contested constituencies, the NDC is intensifying its grassroots campaign to wrest the seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Sam George, joined by Tourism Minister Dzifa Gomashie, Deputy Communications Minister Mohammed Adam Sukparu, Dome-Kwabenya MP, Elikplim Akurugu and Eastern Regional Chairman of the NDC, Dr. Mark Oliver Kevor, led a church-based campaign that took them to several congregations in Akwatia on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

These included the Lighthouse Chapel International, Christ Apostolic Church, Peace Church, Church of Christ and RoyalHouse Chapel, all in Boadua.

At each of the churches, the delegation made cash donations in aid of church building projects and made a passionate appeal to congregants to rally behind Bernard Baidoo as a candidate with integrity, vision, and a heart for the people of Akwatia.

Quoting Proverbs 21:31 — “The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but victory belongs to the Lord” — the Ningo-Prampram MP stressed that the NDC’s battle for the Akwatia seat was not just political but spiritual, rooted in faith and the conviction that God ultimately grants victory.

“Our brother Bernard Baidoo is prepared and capable, but as Scripture reminds us, it is the Lord who gives victory. I urge you to stand with him, pray with him, and vote for him to transform Akwatia,” Sam George told the congregants.
