NewsAlertGH.com can confirm that at least sixteen members of the Saviour Church of Ghana are feared dead after a horrific crash on the Atwedie section of the Kumasi-Accra highway on Monday, July 28, 2025.
Eyewitness accounts and preliminary police reports indicate that the tragic incident happened around 2:30 p.m. and involved a head-on collision between a passenger vehicle transporting the church members and an oncoming fuel tanker.
The deceased were reportedly heading back to Obogu in the Asante Akyem South Municipality following the conclusion of the church’s annual gathering held in the Eastern Region.

The force of the head-on crash caused massive damage to both vehicles, with emergency responders confirming multiple fatalities at the scene. Several others sustained critical injuries and were rushed to nearby health facilities for emergency treatment.
Personnel from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service responded swiftly to the scene, helping to extract victims from the wreckage and directing traffic on the busy highway.
Authorities have launched a probe into the cause of the crash and are urging road users to exercise extreme caution, especially on long-distance journeys.
