The Rotary Club of Accra-Airport is celebrating a remarkable milestone: 25 years of committed service to community development and humanitarian impact. Chartered on April 18, 2000, the club has grown from 22 charter members into an active 71-member club, living out its mission of Service Above Self.
Established under the leadership of Charter President Harry Owusu and the governorship of Past District Governor Adotei Brown, the club quickly earned the nickname “The Millennium Club,” symbolising a spirit of renewal and ambition at the dawn of a new century.
A Record of Impact
Over the past two and a half decades, the Rotary Club of Accra-Airport has undertaken numerous impactful projects, including:

The rehabilitation of the Frafraha Children’s Home, including the provision of school uniforms.

The renovation of the Children’s Ward at the 37 Military Hospital where a play area, library, and family lounge were introduced.

The long-running Sugar Project, developed in partnership with Joy FM and Millennium Promise, focused on raising awareness about diabetes.

The transformative Sickle Cell Project at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital which upgraded patient care infrastructure and provided essential furnishings.

The renovation of the Akotoshie School Block and the chartering of new Rotary and Interact Clubs to ensure leadership continuity.

These projects, along with many others, underscore the club’s unwavering commitment to health, education, and youth empowerment.

Recognition and Giving
The club has also been recognised for its philanthropic spirit. In 2018/2019, it became a 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club, with every member contributing a minimum of $1,000 to the Rotary Foundation. By 2025, the club’s cumulative contributions had reached $461,650, with several members recognised as Major Donors (contributing a minimum of $10,000 to the Rotary Foundation).
