Former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong has called for unity within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), urging members to move past grievances and focus on strengthening the party for the future.
Speaking at a TESCON induction ceremony at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on Sunday, March 30, 2025, Mr Agyapong acknowledged that political engagements often lead to misunderstandings but emphasized the need for reconciliation.
“Our cardinal focus should be unity. In politics, we offend each other. Let’s put it behind us,” he told the gathering.
Agyapong, who contested the NPP’s 2024 flagbearer race but lost to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, apologised to anyone who may have felt wronged by his words or actions.
“Anybody that feels that I have offended him, I apologise. Anybody who feels he has offended me, I have forgiven him,” he declared.
His remarks come as the NPP begins strategizing for the 2028 general elections, with a renewed focus on party cohesion and grassroots mobilization.
Addressing student members of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON), Agyapong urged them to take a leading role in campaigning for the party’s return to power.
“So TESCON, I charge you today to lead the NPP campaign. Go house to house. Whoever you meet, engage him and tell the story about NPP. And I know with your effort, we will be able to come back to power and develop this country,” he said.
The event brought together sitting and former MPs, parliamentary candidates, regional and national executives, and other key figures within the party.
