President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Professor Ransford Edward Van Gyampo as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA).
Prof. Gyampo, a distinguished academic from the University of Ghana’s Political Science Department, takes over from Kwesi Baffour Sarpong, who served under the Akufo-Addo administration since his appointment in December 2023.
His appointment was formally communicated through a letter by Dr. Calistus Mahama, Executive Secretary to the President.
Mr. Sarpong has been instructed to transfer his duties to Prof. Gyampo immediately, ensuring a smooth transition of leadership at the GSA.
Born on March 31, 1977, in Accra, Prof. Gyampo brings extensive expertise to his new role. With over two decades in academia, he is a Professor of Political Science and the Founding Director of the Centre for European Studies at the University of Ghana.
