Adam Mutawakilu served as the first Member of Parliament for the Damongo Constituency (2013–2020) after the constituency was split to carve out the Daboya-Mankarigu Constituency. In Parliament, he served on the Mines and Energy Committee and rose to become the Vice Chairman and the Ranking Member of the Committee. He taught Core Science, Mathematics, and Chemistry at Damongo Senior High School from 1996 to 1999 after earning a Teacher Training Certificate “A” from Bagabaga Training College in 1996.
