Ghanaians have begun casting their votes in a general election to elect a president and 276 parliamentarians.
Dubbed one of the most fiercely contested elections in the nation’s history, the race features 12 presidential candidates. The spotlight, however, is on Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former President John Dramani Mahama of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Polling stations opened at 7:00 AM, with long queues forming as eager voters turned out to exercise their democratic rights. Election officials, supported by security personnel, are working diligently to ensure a smooth and orderly voting process.
Citizens have been urged to participate peacefully and adhere to all electoral regulations to uphold the credibility and transparency of the election.
