The Project Manager of Forshes Africa Foundation, Rev. Nana Boame Jones, has called on breast cancer survivors to share their stories and experiences to inspire hope in newly diagnosed patients. He encouraged women to take proactive steps to ensure their health and well-being.
Speaking at an event organized by the Foundation at Hohoe Baptist International Church under the theme, “Early Detection Saves Lives,” Rev. Nana Boame emphasized that taking proactive measures against breast cancer aligns with biblical teachings. “The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty,” he quoted from Proverbs 27:12 (NIV), underscoring the importance of caution and preventive action.
Rev. Boame explained that early detection through regular screening is a wise and potentially life-saving step, allowing for treatment before the disease advances.
The Forshes Africa Foundation, an international non-governmental organization based in Ghana, is dedicated to supporting and empowering women in rural communities. The event aimed to raise awareness about breast cancer and included free screenings, benefiting many attendees.

Oncology Nurse Specialist at Volta Regional Hospital in Hohoe, Jonas Ntikie Njibe, shared insights into breast cancer, describing it as a result of uncontrolled cell growth. While more common in women, the disease can affect men as well. Mr. Njibe emphasized the importance of understanding symptoms, risk factors, and prevention methods for early detection and successful treatment.
Although there is no certain way to prevent breast cancer, Mr Njibe recommended lifestyle choices that can reduce risk, such as limiting alcohol, avoiding smoking, maintaining a healthy diet, regular exercise, and breastfeeding.

Beneficiaries of the event expressed gratitude to the Foundation for its support and dedication to their health.
