An Accra High Court has affirmed the Electoral Commission’s (EC) decision to disqualify Bernard Mornah, the 2024 presidential candidate of the People’s National Convention (PNC), from contesting in the upcoming general elections. Mornah was among 11 presidential aspirants disqualified by the EC.
According to the EC, the disqualifications stemmed from the candidates’ failure to rectify errors on their nomination forms.
Mornah, however, challenged his disqualification in court, arguing that the process violated his legal rights and did not adhere to due process. He sought legal redress, contending that the EC’s decision was illegal and unconstitutional. Despite his arguments, the Accra High Court ruled in favour of the EC, upholding the disqualification and barring Mornah from participating in the December 7, 2024, presidential elections.
