A high-powered delegation led by the Member of Parliament for Daboya-Mankarigu, Alhaji Mahama Asei Seini, on Friday, August 23, 2024, visited several “Over Bank” communities in the North Gonja District. The delegation included the District Chief Executive, Adam Eliasu (Red Bawa), the Regional Secretary, Mohammed Issah, Constituency Executives, and the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the area, Samuel Tika Yeyu. The tour covered the Kutur Banchi and Gua electoral areas, where the team visited seven communities: Tidrope, Tidrope Fishing Camp, Sinsina, Kagbal, Gua, Gua Fishing Camp, and Kito.
Addressing the residents of Kagbal, the incumbent MP, Alhaji Asei Mahama acknowledged his loss in the NPP parliamentary primaries, describing it as a natural part of the democratic process.
“The outcome of every election reflects the will of the people and should be respected. Instead of mourning for my primary loss, focus on continuing to work towards the greater good with the NPP Parliamentary Candidate, Samuel Tika Yeyu for a better future,” he noted.
The District Chief Executive for North Gonja District, Adam Eliasu, also spoke at the event, urging the communities to vote massively for Samuel Tika Yeyu as their next Member of Parliament and for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the President of the Republic of Ghana. He addressed the ongoing water crisis in the Over Bank area, explaining that the region’s rock formations make it difficult to find reliable water sources, particularly when drilling boreholes.
“The water crisis in Over Bank is due to fractured or faulted rock in the area with complex geology, which makes it difficult to find a reliable water source, especially when drilling boreholes. Despite this, the government is tirelessly working to find a water source that will be the safest and most convenient option, ensuring it is treated and disinfected by our local water utility,” he added.
On his part, the Kagbal Electoral Area Unit Committee member, Mumuni Seidu pledged the area’s support for Samuel Tika Yeyu and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The government delegation’s visit to Over Bank was part of a larger campaign tour in the Savannah Region.
