Veteran broadcaster Godwin Avenorgbor, affectionately known as ‘The Grandmaster’ has passed away. He died on August 19, 2024, though the cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
Big Godwin was the Director of Communication for the Melcom Group of Companies until his passing. He was widely respected in the media industry, having made significant contributions during his tenure at Ghana Television (GTV).
The sweet-voiced Godwin Avenorgbor was last Thursday, August 15, an active part of activities at the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) 75th Anniversary Commemorative Lecture at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra.
He was the Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee.
A brief statement posted on GTV’s official Facebook page read, “The ‘Grandmaster’ (Godwin Avenorgbor) bows out. May his gentle soul rest in peace.”
