The Drug-Free Club of the Eastern Regional Command (ERC) and the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) have distributed booklets donated by the Foundation for a Drug-Free World to some selected schools in Koforidua. This distribution forms part of their activities to commemorate this year’s World Drug Day celebration.
The booklets contain information about marijuana (weed/wee), alcohol, ecstasy, cocaine, crack cocaine, crystal meth, inhalants, heroin, LSD, and prescription drug abuse.
The schools that benefited from the distribution of the booklets were Wesley International School, Trinity Royal Presby School, Presby Model Basic School, St. Dominic R/C Basic School, and Oyoko Methodist Senior High School, all in the New Juaben South and North Municipalities.

In all, the Drug-Free Club of the ERC distributed the booklets to five (5) schools, comprising a total of three hundred and twenty (320) club members and twelve (12) club coordinators.

The Drug-Free Club aims to train students to make better life choices by equipping them with life skills, communication skills, career guidance, health and wellness, as well as coping and resistance skills. Ultimately, the Club seeks to prevent first-time drug use by arming the youth with the necessary tools needed to achieve that aim.

The Foundation for a Drug-Free World is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Los Angeles, California, which provides educational materials for its international drug prevention network. The booklets provide in-depth knowledge about these substances of abuse and why we should stay away from them.
