The third accused person in the ongoing ambulance purchase trial, Richard Jakpa has insisted that he was impressed upon by the Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame for him to accept his theory so the Minority Leader, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson will be jailed at all costs.
According to him, the AG insisted on Jakpa framing the story in a manner favourable to the prosecution rather than presenting an impartial account. He emphasized that the AG’s theory was not only suggestive but was strongly impressed upon him, leading him to feel coerced into aligning his testimony with the AG’s perspective. Jakpa believes this pressure compromised the integrity of the prosecution.
This assertion further deepens the woes of Godfred Dame in the ongoing trial and raises questions about the fairness and objectivity of the prosecution’s approach. The tape recording of Jakpa’s conversation with the AG played in court, revealed the extent of the alleged pressure. In the recording, the AG is purportedly heard urging Jakpa to adopt a particular stance, which the accused now claims was intended to manipulate the trial’s outcome.
