Former President John Dramani Mahama has delivered a scathing critique of the current Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo-led administration.
According to the NDC Flagbearer, pervasive corruption, rampant nepotism and brazen theft, have become the defining features of Ghana’s current government. He asserted that these issues are severely undermining the national spirit and fostering a climate of despair and hopelessness across the country.
Mr Mahama emphasized the urgent need for a change in governance and direction. He believes that his return to office is essential to address these challenges and restore hope to Ghanaians.
Taking to his social media handles on Friday, June 21, 2024, he wrote, “Unspeakable corruption, nepotism, brazen theft, waste of national resources, impunity, and general criminality have become the hallmarks of Ghana’s current government.”
“With the national spirit sinking to an all-time low and hopelessness engulfing our country, a change in governance and direction is imperative. That is why I have decided to run for office as President.”
Mr. Mahama’s remarks come at a time when Ghana faces what has been described as unprecedented economic and social challenges, including cedi-dollar depreciation, and unemployment, among others.
