The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a weather warning following heavy rainfall across the southern region of the country.
The agency attributes the rainstorm to a weather system observed over southern Togo, which is expected to move westward, bringing thunderstorms and varying intensities of rain to areas in southern Ghana. The rainstorm is likely to be accompanied by moderate to strong winds in some regions.
On Monday, May 6, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., areas such as Aflao, Keta, Dzodze, Anloga, Ho, Ada Foah, Accra, Kasoa, Dodowa, Madina, Nsawam, Koforidua, Akim Oda, and their surroundings experienced heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
In contrast, Cape Coast, Tarkwa, Axim, Takoradi, and surrounding areas are at a lower risk.
Additionally, the sea conditions are expected to be rough, which may impact coastal activities and maritime operations.
Residents in the affected regions are urged to stay informed through local weather reports and follow safety guidelines to ensure their well-being during the stormy weather.
