The Sempe Mantsɛ, Nii Adote Otintor II has strongly condemned the customary marriage between the 63-year-old Gborbu Wulomo and a 12-year-old girl.
According to the Mankralo of the Ga State, the union between the two is unjustifiable and contradicts the customs of the Ga-Dangbe people.
The marriage ceremony, which took place recently between the elderly Gborbu Wulomo, Nuumo Borketey Laweh XXXIII, and the minor, Naa Ayemoede, has ignited widespread public criticism due to the significant age gap and concerns for the child’s future.
But the spokesperson for the Gborbu Wulomo has defended the marriage, brushing off the criticism as stemming from ignorance.
Speaking to Accra-based Joy News, Nii Adote Otintor urged all well-meaning indigenes of the Ga-Dangme community to rise against what’s happening.
